Local racers podium at the 4th annual Triple Crown Race
Paddleboarders from all across the state of Florida congregated at PADDLE! 88 last weekend to test their skills in the 4th annual Triple Crown of the Upper Keys sponsored by PADDLE! The Florida Keys. Two events were held on Saturday, the flying mile, which is a 1 mile sprint, the PADDLE! 88 Challenge, a short distance obstacle course with shoulder to shoulder style racing, and on Sunday the 10 mile distance race. Weather conditions were near perfect. The competition was fierce and a couple of local racers came out on top of their divisions. Triple Crown winners get to wear the crown only if they participate and dominate in all 3 events.
This years Triple Crown winners are (L to R) Prone class Bubba Ellis – Tampa, FL , Womens Elite Seychelle – Key Largo, Groms (youth) Cody Walsh – Islamorada, Open Men Christopher Denault – Key Largo, Mens Elite Joey Huempfner – Jupiter FL 14 ft. mens.
